Art as a Path to Self-Knowledge: Celebrating 15 Years of Mirrors of Consciousness — A Unique Art Retreat for the Soul in Mérida

It was in 2010 when I painted the first mirror of consciousness — a moment that quietly opened a portal into the vast terrain of my inner world.
Today, I celebrate 15 years of developing Mirrors of Consciousness, a unique healing art technique born from the intersection of creativity, meditation, and self-inquiry. What began as an intuitive experiment in paint has evolved into a powerful visual methodology for exploring identity, emotion, and insight through image.
Influenced by the revolutionary spirit of Dadaism — which rejected conformity, logic, and traditional aesthetics — and inspired by the dreamlike, symbolic language of Surrealism, Mirrors of Consciousness invites us to let go of logical thinking and meet ourselves through symbols, texture, inner landscapes, and the hidden messages of the subconscious mind.
Early on, the work drew subtle inspiration from the psychological mirror of the Rorschach test — not as diagnosis, but as an artistic approach to allow meaning to emerge from abstraction. Surrealist artists believed in art as a way to access deeper truths, to give shape to the invisible, and to allow the unconscious to speak. Mirrors of Consciousness follows that lineage — providing a sacred, creative space to witness the self through color, form, and intuitive gesture.
Each session becomes a ceremony — often accompanied by the ancestral heart medicine of ceremonial cacao, guiding participants to access deeper levels of truth, healing, and creative flow; this process becomes a meditative journey — not toward perfection, but toward presence.
Now, this evolving body of work continues to unfold within my signature Art Retreat in Mérida, Yucatán — a sanctuary for those seeking not only to make art, but to know thyself through it.
